So I've had this character I've been kicking around, Vaporloc. He is a super villian that I originally thought up for a contest put on by my friend He had some influences in the back story from my bud and has since been the subject matter of two of my recent deviations. I have in fact had so much fun with his developement, that I thought it'd be fun to share that experience further with all my friends here on DA. To this end, Mojo talked me into sponsoring our first ever contest.

This is a coloring contest. The object is to color (digitally, or traditionally if you prefer) my character line art here:

An early portrait of the same character can be found here [link] but I'd prefer that you don't let this influence your color choices or composition at all. See what you can add to make it your own. Backgrounds are always cool but certainly optional.

The winner will be picked by me after consultation with the Moj; we don't particularly hold with art contests that degenerate into popularity contests. Entries will be judged on color composition, effect, detail, and creativity. Winner will recieve a 3 month subscription. If there ends up being more than ten entries, I'll get Mojo to pony up for second and possibly a third place prize as well.

Deadline will be the 3rd of July because I'll be knee-deep in fireworks, BBQ's, and beer on the 4th. Note me with a link when your entry is complete.

If you think that having a little more background on the character would be helpful (or your just interested), note me, as there is a lengthy backstory behind the character. But I'll put the short of it here:

Vaporloc is the villianous alter ego of the 19th century world famous magician, Damien Locke. He traded a portion of his soul to the archdevil, Mephistopheles, in return for supernatural abilities, a collection of magical artifacts, and near immortality. Now he hunts in eternal servitude, serving as Mephisto's harvester of the dammned. He travels the multi-verse, extracting the souls of the damned and delivering them to his master. He revels in the hunt and the use of his powers, but also regrets the short-sighted decision that brought him to this madness. Over the centuries, this duality has led to a severe bi-polar affliction that makes him unpredictable and exceptionally dangerous.
